RMWB Lowering Municipal Flags To Half-Mast To Honour Nova Scotia Shooting Victims

Flags at the municipal building are being flown at half-mast to honour the victims of the Nova Scotia Shooting.

At least 22 people were killed last weekend including Heidi Stevenson, a 23-year veteran with the RCMP.

“My thoughts are with the people of Nova Scotia and all those who have been touched by the horrific events that have unfolded there,” said Mayor Don Scott, in a release.

“To the many Nova Scotians who now call our region home, please know my thoughts are with all of you. I know our entire country stands with Nova Scotia during this time of grief.”

The flags will remain at half-mast through next week.

Next Wednesday, April 28, also marks the National Day of Mourning which serves as a memorial for those who passes away during a work-related tragedy.

“I know members of our staff with roots in Nova Scotia have been very moved by this tragedy, and on their behalf I extend my condolences, thoughts, and prayers for those who have been affected,” added Jamie Doyle, RMWB CAO.
