Winter Parking Restrictions Begin in Fort McMurray: Check Your Zone to Avoid Tickets

RMWB Activates Winter Maintenance Zones, Opens Snow Disposal Site

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) has activated its Winter Maintenance Zones (WMZ) for the first time this season, beginning with subzones 1 and 2. On-street parking restrictions are now in effect during scheduled snow-clearing days in these zones, and vehicles left parked on streets during maintenance may be ticketed and towed.

Residents can find their designated zones and snow-clearing schedules by checking posted street signage, visiting the RMWB website, or calling The Pulse. Subzones 3 and 4 are relaxed this week, with no parking restrictions, but the municipality plans on activating them next week.

The RMWB has also announced the opening of the Tower Road snow disposal. The site operates 24 hours a day, but users must obtain a snow disposal permit before dumping loads there. Permits from the RMWB can be obtained online. The RMWB suggests residents review their winter maintenance guidelines to ensure efficient snow removal and maintain safe roadways.
