FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta— Winter Maintenance Zones (WMZs) continue to operate under relaxed conditions this week, and residents may continue to park on their streets without restriction. While Fort McMurray experienced a dump of snow on Sunday, warmer temperatures are melting much of what fell. The Municipality has not yet activated the WMZs, meaning residents are free to park on the street even on their designated winter maintenance day.
Subzones are typically activated on a bi-weekly basis from October 15 to April 15, but they will only be enforced when snow clearing, or removal becomes necessary. The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) encourages residents to sign up for email alerts to stay informed about when subzones become active.
