Applications Open for New Board of Directors of Wood Buffalo Economic Development
Fort McMurray, AB— The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is now accepting applications for the new board of directors for Wood Buffalo Economic Development and Tourism (WBEDT). This follows last week’s decision by the Municipal Council to dissolve the previous board consisting of Mayor Sandy Bowman, CAO Henry Hunter, and two councillors, and appoint themselves as Interim Directors. This was the second major intervention in seven months.
Residents interested in serving on the board are encouraged to apply online through the website rmwb.ca/boards. One key requirement is that applicants must be permanent residents of the RMWB.
The newly formed board will have an updated mandate, tasked with overseeing the strategic direction, operations, and financial governance of WBEDT. They will also be required to provide recommendations to the Municipal Council within 90 days of their appointment, outlining strategies to drive economic growth and tourism in the region.
Applications will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on November 17.
