Fort McMurray Photographers Recognized at National Conference
Two photographers from Fort McMurray were honoured with awards this week at the Professional Photographers of Canada’s “Light Matters” conference in Calgary.
Sarah Fresz took home the Best-in-Class trophy for a wedding photo, marking the first time this award has been handed to a Fort McMurray photographer. Thomas Hopkins won Best Industrial Image for his striking capture of an open pit oilsands mine.
The three-day event included workshops on branding and professional development, with former Fort McMurray resident Crystal Mercredi leading one of the sessions.
Professional Photographers of Canada has been promoting the development and education of Canadian photographic artists since 1946.
