RMWB seeking messages of support for Jasper

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta —The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is encouraging residents to show support for the fire-stricken town of Jasper. The RMWB is collecting messages of hope and encouragement in the form of videos, drawings, or short notes from individuals, families, organizations, and businesses.

Video messages must be submitted online by August 5, 2024. The videos should be 5-10 seconds long, recorded in landscape orientation, and have minimal background noise. Submissions must be in MP4 format and can be uploaded to rmwb.ca/jasper. The deadline for handmade drawings is August 11, 2024.

“We know all too well how devastating wildfires are — and when we were in our time of need, communities across Alberta and beyond stood with us,” said RMWB Mayor Sandy Bowman. “Now it’s our turn to make their days a little brighter and show our support.”

The municipality is also collecting handmade drawings to be used as part of a fence banner in the rebuild areas of Jasper. The RMWB is providing coloured paper, available at various locations in the region and all municipal offices, to ensure a consistent look for the wrap.

To further support the town, Play 103.7, 100.5 Cruz FM, and all Harvard Media outlets in Saskatchewan and Alberta are organizing a “Day of Caring” for the wildfire victims in Jasper. On Wednesday, July 31, people are invited to join in supporting the victims. Donations can be made at AlbertaDayofCaring.com or by texting the keyword “RADIO” to 20222 to donate $10.
