An Indian man, wrongfully declared dead by the government, resorted to crime to prove he was alive. Baburam Bhil, a 40-year-old from Rajasthan’s Mithora village, had unsuccessfully tried to correct the error through village elders and state authorities. Fearing the loss of his property, Baburam decided on a drastic measure to gain attention. On July 19, armed with a knife and petrol bottle, he entered Chuli Bera Dharana School and injured two teachers and a parent, while also taking several hostages. Arrested by police, Baburam explained his desperate act was to get recorded in police records, thus proving his existence.
