A 47-year-old woman from Fort McMurray is dead following a serious motor vehicle accident over the weekend.

Late Saturday morning RCMP along with EMS responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 63 near the Saline Creek Parkway. According to police, a sedan and a water truck were involved in the collision which forced a partial closure of the road on Saturday.

EMS tended to the driver, but she later died of her injuries. The driver and lone occupant of the water truck sustained minor injuries.

The highway was partially closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
