Four men facing firearms charges in Fort Chipewyan

Four people in Fort Chipewyan are facing multiple firearms charges.

On Friday, April 5, Fort Chipewyan RCMP responded to a complaint about a vehicle driving in the community with a firearm.

Around noon, police located and stopped the suspect vehicle with four people inside. During a search, the Mounties found a loaded handgun and multiple casings inside the cab.

Fort Chipewyan residents Bruce George Lepine (46), and Dominic Mills-Bruno (23), Fort McMurray resident Kyler Flett (28), and Saddle Lake resident Jimmy William Houle (26) were charged with multiple criminal code offenses which including:

  • Unsafe storage of a firearm.
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
  • Possession of a firearm or prohibited weapon when knowing possession is unauthorized.
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle.
  • Possession of restricted firearm/prohibited weapon with ammo without licence/registration;
  • Possession of weapon obtained by crime.
  • Uttering threats against a person.
  • Weapons possession contrary to order and failure to surrender authorization; and
  • Disguised with intent to commit offence.

Following the arrests, Seargent Warren Davison, Detachment Commander Fort Chipewyan RCMP thanked the residents of Fort Chipewyan for their continued support of the RCMP and for their shared determination to achieve safer communities.
