The Fort McMurray Catholic School Division (FMCSD) has closed nominations for their upcoming by-election.
Timothy Byron and Louis Eliott Pierre are both running for the position of Trustee with the FMCSD. A by-election is required under the Education Act due to a vacancy on the board left by the resignation of Trustee, Jonathan Higdon.
Higdon stirred controversy last summer with social media posts about the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. The posts caused Pride YMM to demand an apology from Higdon.
Higdon tendered his resignation last November citing his busy work schedule, saying the move was unrelated to previous controversies.
The by-election will occur on April 8th.
