Suncor Energy has announced changes to its board of directors following the retirement of Eira Thomas.
Jane Peverett was appointed to the board on September 1, 2023, and will also serve as a member of the audit committee and governance committee.
Peverett has had a successful career spanning 25 years with such accomplishments as becoming the President and Chief Executive Officer of Union Gas Limited which led her to become the first woman president of a natural gas utility company in Canada.
She was also the Chief Executive Officer of the British Columbia (B.C.) Transmission Corporation, where she helped launch the construction of the first major expansion of B.C.’s electrical grid.
“I am pleased to welcome Jane to the Suncor Board,” said Board Chair Michael Wilson.
“She is a highly experienced corporate director with an extensive financial background, having served on a number of Canada’s top company boards. Jane’s impressive experience and expertise will complement our board skills and we’re looking forward to working with her.”
She has served on multiple corporate boards in Canada and the United States in industries like energy, banking, insurance, transportation, utility, and even media.
Perverett continues to serve on the boards for Canada Pacific Kansas City Limited, Northwest Natural Holding Company, as well as Capital Power Corporation.
She also serves as the Chair of CSI Group, which is formally known as the Canadian Standards Association.
