Household contact of positive Omicron variant attended schools in North Zone

AHS have reported 11 cases of the new Omicron variant in Alberta in returning travellers and one those is a household contact, meaning they are physically close to someone who tested positive.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw tweeted out on Monday that one household contact in the North Zone attended an elementary school and one has attended a high school.

Hinshaw noted that they have contacted those schools “out of an abundance of caution” and that those schools are expected to contact anyone that may have been exposed.

Those schools are also being supplied with rapid tests to distribute out to help parents monitor their families at home.

On Mondays COVID-19 AHS update, it indicated that active cases in Fort McMurray have dropped once again and is now sitting at 40.
