Two Men Charged with Drug Trafficking in Fort McMurray

A drug trafficking investigation by the Wood Buffalo Drug Section in collaboration with Edmonton ALERT and the Wood Buffalo Crime Reduction Unit is leading to two arrests.

On October 6th, 58-year-old Garland Lawrence Payne, was arrested after police seized suspected cocaine and Canadian Currency.

Payne is charged with 5 counts of trafficking cocaine.

Later, on October 8th, 24-year-old Nicholas Edward Payne turned himself in to the Wood Buffalo RCMP.

He faces one count of trafficking cocaine.

The pair have since been released with Garland Payne scheduled to appear in Fort McMurray Provincial Court on November 9, 2021 and Nicholas set to appear on October 26, 2021.
