A third vaccine is coming to Canada.
Oxford University’s AstraZeneca was approved by Health Canada today.
After months of trials, Health Canada has found the vaccine has an efficacy rate of 62 per cent.
20 million doses have been secured for the country and are expected to arrive in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the year.
Those 18 and up will be able to get the Astra Zeneca vaccine.
Like the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine, Astra Zeneca requires two shots, however, they can be 4 to 12 weeks apart.
The new vaccine can be stored at temperatures between 2 C and 8 C compared to the sub-zero temperatures the others require.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said with the three vaccines, Canada should see 6.5 million doses by the end of March.
