A 29-year-old Fort McMurray man is being charged after a drug seizure downtown.
On January 22, ALERT Fort McMurray’s organized crime and gang team executed a search warrant on a home where they found 133 grams of crack cocaine and $30,000 in cash.
The group started investigating earlier in the month after receiving information about potential drug activity.
“Crack cocaine is a harmful, highly addictive substance and really pulls down a community,” said Inspector Sean Boser, ALERT Regional teams. “ALERT carried out a short investigation and was able to make quick work of this drug dealer.”
Yimag Abdi-Ahmed was arrested and charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, production of a controlled substance, possession of proceeds of crime, and failure to comply with release conditions.
Abdi-Ahmed currently remains in custody.
