Fort McMurray’s active total of COVID-19 cases is getting close to returning to under 200.
The province announced on Friday 785 new cases across Alberta.
This raises the provincial total to 115,370 with 12,189 currently active. There are also 796 Albertans in the hospital for the virus, 124 of which are in ICUs.
Locally, Fort McMurray added five new cases and 25 additional recoveries which lowers the active total to 203.
The rural areas added one new case and one recovery which keeps the active total at four, while two people in Wood Buffalo National Park continue to have the virus.
In total, 1,504 individuals across the RMWB – 1,376 in Fort McMurray, 121 in the rural areas, and seven in Wood Buffalo National Park – have recovered.
They are among the 101,779 who’ve recovered across the province. This represents over 88 per cent of reported cases.
There were also 13 new deaths from COVID-19 in Alberta over the past 24 hours – raising the total to 1,402.
To date, three individuals in Fort McMurray have died as a result of the virus.
