The holiday season will once again feature a unique light show for residents across Wood Buffalo.
“Lights at Royal Garden” gets underway next weekend in Thickwood and will include a show every night for several weeks.
The free show has been an annual tradition over the past few years, created as a way to help brighten up everyone’s mental health.
Creator Jon Tupper says the event is COVID-19 friendly.
“Viewers are in their vehicles listening to the music and watching the show, this is a very safe event.”
The show features over 10,000 lights, each with over 28,000 colours, all animated to music broadcast on 105.5 FM.
This year’s show will include a children’s themed night running from Monday to Wednesday and a family night every Thursday to Sunday.
While the show is free, donations are welcome with everything collected being given to the Northern Lights Health Foundation.
“There will be a ‘Letters to Santa’ Mailbox in front of the show where, while practicing social distancing, residents can drop off a cash donation through a touch-free slot,” added Tupper.
Last year, they were able to raise $2,000. This year, they’re hoping to collect $5,000.
The shows start on November 28 and will run every half an hour from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
