FMPSD Experiencing First COVID-19 Cases At Dr. K.A. Clark and Composite

The Fort McMurray Public School Division is experiencing its first cases of COVID-19.

Dr. K.A. Clark Public School has two active cases, while Composite High School has one.

These are the first three cases in the FMPSD since the school year got underway on August 31.

None of the cases are believed to have been from school transmission which is allowing them to remain open at this time.

An outbreak has not been declared at Dr. K.A. Clark, however, the FMPSD is expecting one to be announced by Alberta Health Services.

The division says parents and guardians have been contacted with Alberta Health Services speaking to those needing to self-isolate and get tested.

Like the Fort McMurray Catholic School District, the FMPSD says they’ve conducted enhanced cleaning protocols to help limit the spread of the virus.
