The deadline to apply for disaster relief funding is being extended by the provincial government.

Minister of Municipal Affairs Kaycee Madu announced on Wednesday residents impacted by April’s flood now have until September 6 to apply for DRP funds.

The province has provided $100 million through the program for residents who experienced uninsured damage.

This is an extension of one month after concerns were raised, specifically in the RMWB, over the lack of applications.

So far, 730 applications have either been approved or are currently being processed.

The flood forced around 13,000 people to evacuate the Lower Townsite, Waterways, and Draper.

Around 1,200 properties were damaged from the flood water which peaked around six metres in some areas.
