A local family is looking for answers after they believe they were the victim of an alleged hate crime.
Bradley, who asked for his last name to be left out over concerns of potential retribution, claims his family was randomly targeted last week while shopping in Timberlea.
When they got back to their vehicle they found two of the tires had been slashed, while a ‘keep Canada white’ poster and anti-immigration pamphlet were left behind.
They immediately called Wood Buffalo RCMP who he states reviewed footage of the parking lot.
It apparently showed a vehicle, which the family noticed before going into the store, parking next to the truck with a man coming out to put up the poster and slash the tires.
“My wife is Filipino and he did see us going through the parking lot, he targeted us because I’m white and she’s Filipino,” said Bradley.

He doesn’t believe his family was directly targeted, rather just being in the wrong place at the wrong time. However, he adds it seems the individual was well-prepared to post this hateful rhetoric.
“He was prepared, he had his stickers, had his glue, had his pamphlets, and had something to puncture the tires.”
Mix News has reached out to Wood Buffalo RCMP who’s hoping to have more information to share later this week.
In the meantime, Bradley wants residents to be careful and contact the police if they have any information.
“I just want other people to be aware.”
