A plane crash involving the Canadian Forces Snowbirds is claiming the life of one of their members.
The team was flying over Kamloops, British Columbia on Sunday as part of their Operation INSPIRATION, helping motivate people during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Shortly after taking off, one of their planes crashed.
Captain Jennifer Casey passed away as a result, while Captain Richard MacDougall, who was also in the plane, sustained serious, non-life threatening injuries.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau also took to social media to mourn the death of Captain Casey.
Tonight, I join all Canadians in mourning the loss of a member of the @CFSnowbirds #OpInspiration team, Captain Jennifer Casey. I’m sending my deepest condolences to her loved ones, and wishing Captain Richard MacDougall a full recovery.
