RMWB Focuses on Major Roads, Relaxing All WMZs

RMWB Relaxes Winter Maintenance Zones Despite Heavy Snowfall

FORT MCMURRAY, AB — Despite a recent heavy snowfall, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is relaxing all winter maintenance zones from March 17 to 24, meaning no on-street residential parking restrictions will be in place on a sub-zone’s designated day for winter maintenance.

Instead, crews will focus on clearing arterial and feeder roads to improve safety for motorists. Some streets may see temporary no-parking signs as snow removal efforts continue. Once signs are posted, residents will have 24 hours to move their vehicles before parking restrictions take effect.

Winter Maintenance Zone season runs until April 15, and the RMWB encourages residents to sign up for email alerts to stay informed about snow removal activities.
