Man Charged in Assault at Rivers Casino After Turning Himself In
A man accused of assaulting a staff member at Rivers Casino in downtown Fort McMurray will make his first court appearance on March 5.
RCMP responded to the downtown casino around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 26, after reports that an intoxicated male patron had become verbally aggressive with staff. While being escorted out of the establishment, the man allegedly punched a staff member in the face before fleeing the scene.
Unable to locate the suspect, RCMP released his description and a surveillance photo on Monday asking for the public’s help finding the suspect. Shortly afterward, the man turned himself in at the RCMP detachment.
He was released on an undertaking. The exact charges and the suspect’s name have not been disclosed by police because they have not yet been sworn in court.
