RMWB Activates Winter Maintenance Zones for Snow Removal

FORT MCMURRAY, Alta. — The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) has activated Winter Maintenance Zones 1 and 2 this week for snow removal operations.

On-street parking restrictions will be in effect on each street’s scheduled day for winter maintenance. Residents can check their subzone and maintenance schedules by looking for signage on their streets, visiting the RMWB website, or calling the Pulse line.

This week’s work involves hauling snow onto trucks and transporting it to the regional snow dump, a process that takes more time than standard plowing. Crews will also be clearing alleyways, and the municipality is reminding residents to ensure bins and personal belongings are not obstructing alleyways to allow for efficient snow removal.

The RMWB will also be continuing work on primary, secondary, and tertiary routes and drivers are also asked to give crews plenty of space to work safely.
