Murder Charges Laid in 2024 Slaying Near Lac La Biche

Three Northern Albertans Arrested in Connection with Murder Investigation

Three people are in police custody following an extensive RCMP investigation into the discovery of human remains found near Lac La Biche in the spring of last year.

On April 18, 2024, Lac La Biche RCMP discovered a fire pit containing human remains near the Kikino Métis Settlement, south of Lac La Biche. Forensic investigators later identified the remains as those of 34-year-old Jeremy Collins from Kikino.

RCMP officers from detachments across Alberta conducted an extensive investigation, which led to the arrest of two suspects last week. On January 17, the RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested 33-year-old William Curtis White of Wabasca and 26-year-old Amber Hope of Kikino. Both face charges of first-degree murder and indignity to human remains.

On January 24, RCMP arrested a third suspect, 31-year-old Randall Louis Gadwa from the Kehewin Cree Nation. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

All three suspects remain in police custody.
