Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo Welcomes First Baby of 2025

The maternity ward at the Northern Lights Health Centre is always bustling, but the first baby of the year arrived just a few hours into 2025, bringing joy and celebration to the community.

The Tewelde Ahebrezghi family welcomed Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo’s official New Year baby into the world at 3:15 a.m. on January 1, 2025, weighing a healthy 7 pounds, 13 ounces.

While the parents have yet to finalize a name for their newborn, both mother and baby are doing well. The family now has a special memory to cherish as they start the new year with their newest addition.
