Community Rallies for Wood Buffalo Food Bank During Syncrude Food Drive
The Wood Buffalo Food Bank Association is celebrating the community’s efforts during the 2024 Syncrude Food Drive and Corporate Challenge, which raised over $260,994 in cash donations and collected nearly 38,413 pounds of food.
While the totals fell short of the Food Bank’s goals of $300,000 and 80,000 pounds of food, board chair Jose Alvarado said they deeply appreciate the generosity of donors and volunteers. With how much the community has struggled over the past few years, we are just so grateful that we can still all come together to fight against food insecurity in our region,” Alvarado said.
Dan Edwards, the Food Bank’s executive director, extended a special thank you to the volunteers who braved the cold to make the drive a success. “It’s the strength of our community that allows us to continue our fight against food insecurity,” Edwards said.
The Wood Buffalo Food Bank has been addressing hunger and supporting families in need since 1983.
