Rotating Support Staff Strike Update: CUPE Targets Catholic Division Offices and Four Schools

CUPE Strike Targets Schools, Division Offices, and Support Services

The ongoing CUPE strike involving support staff in the Public and Catholic school divisions continues today, impacting several schools and administrative sites. In the Public division, École McTavish and Christina Gordon schools are without support staff. In the Catholic division, Good Shepherd and Holy Trinity schools will also be affected, with CUPE members picketing in front of Holy Trinity High School.

The Catholic school division’s central office and service centre are also being targeted by the strike. Teacher assistants and casual employees not assigned to specific schools in the Catholic system have also withdrawn their services as part of the labour action.

The strike, now in its second week shows no signs of resolution, as both CUPE and the school divisions remain firm in their positions. The schedule for Wednesday’s strike action will be announced on Tuesday evening at 10:00 p.m. Updates will be available through CUPE’s official channels and carried on 100.5 Cruz FM and Play 103.7
