Man Wanted for Breach of Probation Arrested Without Incident
FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta — A 40-year-old Fort McMurray man with a history of criminal harassment is back in police custody after failing to report to his probation officer.
On Friday, Wood Buffalo RCMP issued a public warning to residents in Fort McMurray and Edmonton about Faton Miftari. An arrest warrant was issued for the man, who has a history of criminal harassment towards women, and police cautioned the public not to approach him.
Miftari has been linked to several incidents of harassment in recent years, including a 2023 case in Edmonton where he was charged after allegedly banging on a woman’s door and peering through her windows. Earlier this year, he was banned from the University of Alberta grounds for allegedly following and harassing women on campus.
Following the public alert, RCMP located and arrested Miftari on Saturday without incident.
Police are thanking the public for their assistance in locating him.
