Stella Lavallee Sworn in as Ward 4 Councillor Following By-Election Win

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta— Residents in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) living in Ward 4 once again have a voice on Municipal Council. Newly elected councillor Stella Lavallee was formally sworn in on Tuesday evening, taking her oath of office just before the council meeting began. She is now able to represent residents of Ward 4 in all council business, including the upcoming December budget deliberations.

Lavallee represents the communities of Anzac, Conklin, Gregoire Lake Estates, and Janvier, filling the seat left vacant since August. She won the November 4 by-election, defeating candidate Nina Caines by 27 votes and Chad Shkopich by 26 votes.
