Fort McMurray, AB — Following an initial news release on Friday afternoon, Wood Buffalo RCMP confirmed later that evening that all parties involved in the reported possible abduction near Athabasca Avenue have been located and interviewed.
The incident, reported on Nov. 6, raised concerns after a witness described seeing a young woman fleeing from a black Jeep in the Abasand neighborhood, only to be pursued and allegedly forced back into the vehicle. Police responded quickly, conducting searches with the assistance of Police Dog Services and obtaining surveillance footage.
At 10:40 p.m. Friday, RCMP announced they had successfully tracked down and spoken with all individuals involved. Police confirmed that everyone was safe and that no offences had been committed. They thanked the public for their tips, which helped bring the situation to a swift and positive resolution.
The investigation has now been closed.
