21-Year-Old Woman Fatally Stabbed in Thickwood

FORT MCMURRAY – A 21-year-old woman was pronounced deceased following a fatal stabbing incident in the Thickwood neighbourhood on November 5, 2024, shortly before 1 p.m., according to Wood Buffalo RCMP. Officers responded to the report at approximately 12:53 p.m. and located the victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival but was later apprehended in downtown Fort McMurray without incident. The Wood Buffalo RCMP, in collaboration with the Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit, took charge of the investigation.

Kayde Marshall Lefebvre, a 22-year-old Fort McMurray resident, has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the incident. Lefebvre appeared before a Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody, with a court appearance scheduled for November 7 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Fort McMurray.

An autopsy conducted earlier today confirmed that the manner of death was homicide.
