Bet they don’t have THIS in their collection.
This piece of deli-coded art is strange, but seems all the more bizarre to me after reading about the inspiration for the work. Inspiration that has almost nothing to do with Pink Floyd – despite the piece featuring 100 copies of “Animals” on pink vinyl to simulate the ham and ham slices. In fact, the art was predominantly inspired by a youthful memory of the French artist, Denis Defrancesco. He tells of a time when he was a young boy of the age of 12 standing across the deli counter from a “goddess” whose ham he was never able to forget. That works to explain the title of the piece: “Marcelle D”.
Anyways, it’s a strange construction featuring a vintage deli slicer that comes bundled with every sleeve of the 100 Floyd albums incorporated to prove authenticity. Though you won’t be able to listen to them. Interested parties should note the asking price of $34,000.
