Chamber of Commerce Announces Business Awards Finalists

FORT MCMURRAY, Alberta— The Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Business Awards Gala, which will take place on October 24th at the Keyano Theatre and Arts Centre. The event will honor the exceptional achievements of the local business community, with winners to be announced in various categories.

“The upcoming Business Awards Celebration is a testament to the outstanding achievements of our business community in Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo,” said Dianna de Sousa, Executive Director of the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce. “I am deeply honored to have the opportunity to recognize and celebrate their remarkable contributions.”

Finalists for the Indigenous Business category include Fort McKay First Nation Group of Companies, Ram Mechanical, Duke’s Building Supplies, and Nighthawk Enterprise Limited. In the Female Leadership category, nominees are ALOHA Mental Arithmetic Fort McMurray, WeCare Pet Services, Generation Dance Productions, Cass & Nat Event Planning, Kid Drop, Premier Academy Cheerleading & Tumbling Fort McMurray, and CustomFit Denture Clinic.

The Emerging Entrepreneur category features Boreal Therapy Collective, ZAG Contracting Ltd, Monarch Child and Family Therapy Inc., The Armoury Grill, and Wild Rose Catering and Co. For Sustainability, finalists are GFL Environment and TLC Disposal.

In the Adaptation Award category, Cade’s BOMB Bombs, NorthWest Construction Management, Splash n Dash Valet Vehicle Detailing Inc., and Poosh Cleaning Services have been shortlisted. The Corporate-Social Collaboration category includes MK Construction Limited, Coverall Uniform Linen and Mats Ltd, and Summit GM.

The Hospitality and Tourism category features East Village Pub, McMurray Aviation, and Pomeroy Hotel, Fort McMurray. Youth Entrepreneur nominees are FOY Medi Spa and Three D’s Photography.

Finalists for Business of the Year include Generation Dance Productions, FOY Medi Spa, and NorthWest Construction Management in the under 20 employees category; East Village Pub and Coverall Uniform Linen and Mats Ltd in the 21-99 employees category; and Fort McKay First Nation Group of Companies, Northstar Ford, and Summit GM in the over 100 employees category.

Kim Hurley of Generation Dance Productions and Marty and Deninne Giles of Northstar Ford are finalists for the Lifetime Business Achievement award. The Franchise Business category includes Freshco, Second Cup, Wood Buffalo Pharmacy IDA, and Northstar Ford.

All finalists are also eligible for the People’s Choice Awards, with residents able to vote for their favorite business on the Fort McMurray Chamber of Commerce website.
