FORT McMURRAY, Alberta— The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is seeking residents to serve on Council-appointed boards and committees. The RMWB has over 70 vacancies to fill across 18 different boards.
Applications are open for positions on a range of boards and committees, including the Advisory Committee on Aging, the Assessment Review Board, and the Combative Sports Commission. Other opportunities are available with Communities in Bloom, the Community Identification Committee, and the Community Standards Appeal Committee. A full list of openings can be found on the RMWB Website
“Joining a board or committee is a great opportunity for professional growth and to gain valuable experience in municipal government,” the RMWB said in a media release. “Members work alongside other community leaders and help advise the Mayor and Councillors on important decisions and matters that impact your community.”
Public members on municipal boards have contributed to initiatives such as the Wood Buffalo Mural Fest and the implementation of the Wood Buffalo Age-Friendly Work Plan, which led to the Municipality winning the Alberta Age-Friendly Recognition Award in 2024.
Anyone interested in applying is encouraged to attend an information and networking session on Oct. 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Jubilee Building downtown.
