WATCH: V/H/S/Beyond Trailer

“The seventh installment of the V/H/S franchise will feature six new bloodcurdling tapes, placing horror at the forefront of a sci-fi-inspired hellscape.”

The ramp up to the halloween horror movie season has begun. Often times horror franchises start to fizzle out when the sequels start stacking, but V/H/S has found its groove on the spooky streaming service Shudder. Seems like there’s a new one every year lately, and they seem to only be getting better each time.

The anthological nature of the series helps to give it room to stay fresh, even with the consistent found footage gimmick. That also means that not every short story told will be a winner for every person watching, but there’s a good chance at least one of the tales told during each installment will hit the horror mark for you.

If that one scene in Signs where the family is watching the footage from the birthday party and the alien walks out from the bushes still gives you chills to think about, this new edition of V/H/S will probably hit those same nerves – aliens seem to feature heavily into this one. Watch the latest entry on Shudder starting October 4th.

Every October I put together a month-long marathon of horror movies both new and old, and I will definitely be adding this one to the pile. What else do you think needs to be on the list?
