French authorities evacuated the Eiffel Tower this afternoon after a man was spotted climbing it above the Olympic rings, near the first observation deck. Videos shared on X show the man, shirtless and without climbing gear, scaling the tower in just black shorts and shoes. One onlooker remarked, “There’s a guy climbing the Eiffel Tower! That’s wild.” Tourists were evacuated, and entry was closed. The climber was eventually escorted off the platform by police, who cleared the area around 3 p.m.
