The winter road to La Loche, Saskatchewan is set to open to light vehicles at noon on Wednesday, January 17th.

Vehicles weighing less than 5,000 kilograms will be permitted on the road, with the load limit expected to increase as soon as it becomes safe.

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) says vehicles heavier than the limit using the winter road will be subject to serious fines and penalties. 

The RMWB is reminding motorists using the road to slow down, drive safely, and review the winter safety tips on the RMWB website before venturing out.
