Wood Buffalo RCMP says they will continue to monitor local demonstrations related to the conflict in the Middle East.

The police say the rising violence in The Levant is a concern to residents of Fort McMurray Wood Buffalo, and they are expecting continued demonstrations against violence in our community.

The RCMP are working with their partners to monitor the situation locally, nationally, and internationally. Their stated goal is to ensure everyone in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo feels safe.

The local detachment adds it is standard practice for officers to monitor events, manage public safety, keep the peace, and respond accordingly to any calls for service.

In a media release, the Wood Buffalo RCMP says they are committed to working with groups who want to organize an event that provides a safe and peaceful opportunity for demonstrators to exercise their lawful rights.
