The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo (RMWB) is conducting controlled burns in Fort McMurray this week.

Trained personnel from the RM’s regional emergency services will be conducting prescribed fires, but only when weather and conditions are deemed safe.

Residents may notice smoke and flames in the area of the burning and signs will be placed near the controlled burn locations to inform the public of the work.

The Municipality is targeting the Parsons Creek, Wood Buffalo, and Thickwood regions for the wildfire hazard reduction plan.
