Timberlea Public School Student, Heidi Seguin, is being honoured with the 2022 George Award.
The award comes from her participation in MicroSociety, an international educational model where students create and operate their own miniature societies.
MicroSociety enables schools to work within Alberta’s Framework for Student Learning and outlines the relationships among literacy, numeracy, and other core competencies to help students become engaged thinkers.
Seguin is the second student at Timberlea Public to receive the prestigious award in the four years the school has participated in the program.
“Heidi is a model student; we are very proud of her accomplishments over the years,” says Principal Waleed Najmeddine.
Timberlea Public School is one of four schools across Canada participating in MicroSociety.
