Minister of Jobs, Economy, and Northern Development, Brian Jean is in South Korea this week. Jean, who also serves as MLA for Fort McMurray – Lac La Biche is joined by Minister of Trade, Immigration, and Multiculturalism Rajan Sawhney for the visit.

While on the peninsula they are discussing opportunities in Alberta’s growing Hydrogen sector. They are also exploring the possibilities for joint energy initiatives in the power industry, and the potential to reduce emissions.

“We are excited to continue to build on the strong ties between Alberta and South Korea and grow opportunities for further investment and innovation in our province,” says Minister Jean.

During the visit, they will be meeting with major South Korean engineering firms, as well as attending presentations on Korea’s plans for hydrogen fuel cell refilling stations.

“Alberta has an amazing opportunity to be a leader within Canada when it comes to relations with Indo-Pacific nations such as South Korea,” says Minister Sawhney

The trip includes a tour of the Korea Hydro Nuclear Power Plant, and meetings with Korea’s Ministry of Science and Technology. After meeting with an undisclosed Korean industrial company, the two ministers return to Alberta on March 3rd.
