Municipal Council recognized four outstanding individuals in our region at the annual Excellence Awards celebration.

Barbara Fitzpatrick was named Citizen of the Year for her contributions to sports, culture, and social inclusion.

Ashley Stevens was handed the Everyday Hero award. A member of the Syncrude Fire Department, Stevens has made notable contributions to disaster and risk reduction.

The Indigenous Advocate award was given to Mitchel Bowers as an inspirational leader for Indigenous Peoples and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community.

Seham Ahmed was honoured with the Youth Award for her exceptional leadership, volunteer contributions, and for bringing positive change to our region.

“It is a privilege to honour such incredible individuals. Their contributions to the community have positive impacts that go beyond just these awards,” says Mayor Sandy Bowman.
