Hockey Canada is inviting a Fort McMurray born hockey player to their National Junior Team Summer Development Camp.

Goaltender Sebastian Cossa is one of five netminders who will take part in the virtual camp held at the end of July.

This development camp is one of the first steps towards choosing Canada’s World Junior roster which will take place in Edmonton and Red Deer later this year.

Seven players from this past tournament are among those invited to the camp. This includes Alexis Lafrenire, Quinton Byfield, Dylan Cozens, Jamie Drysdale, Bowen Byram, Dawson Mercer, and Connor McMichael.

Cossa, who currently plays for the Edmonton Oil Kings, played 33 games during the 2019/20 season where he posted a .921 save percentage and 2.23 goals-against average.

Across the Western Hockey League, he finished third in save percentage and fifth in goals-against among all goalies who played at least 20 games. He also tied for fourth in shutouts with four.

The camp will be held over five-days from July 27-31.
