McDonald’s Canada is temporarily closing their downtown location, along Franklin Avenue, after one of the staff tested positive for COVID-19.
The fast-food chain announced on Tuesday they were informed by the employee they had received a positive test result.
This case has yet to be included in the province’s case map for Fort McMurray. As of Tuesday, the map noted there were no additional cases in the community.
McDonald’s says they’ve closed the restaurant to allow a third party to thoroughly clean and sanitize the building.
All employees who had been in close contact with the individual have been asked to self-isolate.
The staff member last worked at the building on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Those who visited the restaurant on June 8 are being advised to contact Alberta Health Services online or through 8-1-1 to determine whether they need to be tested.
