The number of COVID-19 cases linked to Imperial Oil’s Kearl Lake site, north of Fort McMurray, is continuing to rise.
A company spokesperson says, as of Monday, 25 individuals are currently in quarantine on-site.
Another 36 are self-isolating off-site.
Each of these individuals were tested after they left the oilsands.
Since early last week, Imperial has been testing workers on-site.
It isn’t mandatory, however, the company is recommending everyone get swabbed because people with the virus can be asymptomatic.
The majority of off-site are in Alberta. There are a few in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Nova Scotia.
