There are now four cases of COVID-19 in the north zone.

That’s according to the provincial government who released a case location map on their website on Wednesday.

Currently, one case is in High Prairie, one in Cold Lake with the other two cases still having their locations confirmed.

Overall, there are 22 new cases in the province which brings the total number of cases to 119.

Six of the people who have contracted the illness are currently in the hospital while three are in the intensive care unit.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw, Alberta’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, says multiple cases are linked to the Pacific Dental Conference held in Vancouver from March 5 to 7.

People who attended this event but don’t have any symptoms are being asked to start self-isolating. Those experiencing symptoms are also encouraged to self-isolate and call Alberta Health Link at 811 to get tested.

The Calgary zone continues to be hit the hardest. Eighty-three of the cases are from the area, while 27 are in the Edmonton zone.

To help combat the spread of the virus, Hinshaw says all non-urgent and non-emergency visits to the hospitals and dental clinics are to be rescheduled.

Public facilities at Alberta Parks are also being closed off, however, people can still access the parks.
