A flight headed to Suncor’s Firebag site had to make an emergency landing.
On Tuesday, WestJet charter flight 4012 left Edmonton for the oilsands.
While in the air, the pilots reported smoke in the flight deck and declared an emergency.
They quickly diverted to the Fort McMurray International Airport where they were able to safely land.
After landing, all guests and crews were also safely evacuated into the terminal.
The plane was inspected and has since returned to service.
