Some Other Solutions is expanding their mental health services.
The organization is planning to keep more of their clients in-house after Borealis Counselling closed its doors late last year.
In previous years, SOS referred their more-in depth therapy support to other organizations.
“By keeping counselling patients in-house, we can avoid anyone falling through the gaps in the system,” said Jason King, Executive Director, in a release.
SOS has also hired multiple employees from Borealis to ensure they can continue to help those struggling from mental health illnesses.
With the additional staff, the organization also plans on introducing family counselling.
“Our community has faced some tough times in the last several years, with the downturn in the oil industry and the wildfires in 2016,” added King. “People are facing monumental challenges – everything from stress to emotional distress, loneliness and suicidal thoughts. We are here to help them build resilience and face their struggles.”
