The Wood Buffalo Food Bank is calling out for volunteers as their biggest fundraiser fast approaches.
The annual Syncrude Food Drive is being held from November 29 to December 1 with multiple stores across Wood Buffalo participating.
Last year, the Food Bank was able to raise around $276,000 and over 75,000 pounds of food.
Trucks will be positioned at each store on each of the three days and the Food Bank is looking for people to man them.
Volunteers will be tasked with handing out shopping lists, collecting food, as well as collecting and documenting cash donations.
The organization also needs volunteers to help out at their downtown warehouse stocking food as it comes in.
Trucks will be at the stores from 11 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Sunday.
Volunteers will be asked to work two hour shifts along with two others.
Funds and food raised through the event is expected to account for 30 per cent of their annual operating budget and food stocks.
People can sign up by visiting the Wood Buffalo Volunteers website.
